The World Isn't Ending ... but it is changing
May 13, 2020
Rarely have I written here about the greater geopolitical state of the world. The few times that something has come up in that vaguely political area, it’s been specifically related to technology. However, COVID-19 is changing our world at a rate unlike anything we’ve seen in our lifetimes. It’s certainly making life “interesting” in ways I think most of us would prefer we not deal with. Even though this charge is hard it is not the end of the world (though sometimes it may feel like it).
America, please calm down
November 11, 2016
Look, America, it’s time to chill out. All this nonsense that’s been going on since the election needs to stop. In the technology world, the “Apple vs FBI” situation is being hotly debated. Tim Cook put out a memo (and then an FAQ), Google’s all in on supporting Apple, as is Mark Zuckerberg, and even a touch of Microsoft. If Apple’s refusal to help the FBI is so widely supported by the tech community, why does half of America think the opposite? The answer is simple: Most people don’t care enough about technology to get that deep into the weeds. Rather than trying to educate people on a complicated subject, here’s an easier way to look at Apple v FBI: Do the ends justify the means?
