By SOE I mean Somix Operating Environment. Yes, I’m back to this. I uninstalled it, but the directories were left in tact, so I thought I’d go take a look and see what crap it put on my system. It installed Apache 2.0.8 (I believe). Some form of MySQL (which itself couldn’t connect to when it was installed). ActiveState Perl 5.8 (Which it had me uninstall, so it could install? WTF). It also installed MRTG, but not just installed it, installed all the CVS data with it. Come on people, if you are going to distribute a commercial product and try to charge people for it, at least remove the CVS data (thank you to: /home/oetiker/data/cvs-repo ). It also installed RRDTool (which I am not familiar with).
So all in all, it managed to install a load of Open Source software. Now of course Somix had there own software in there, but it didn’t work. This is the most atrocious collection of hacks I have ever seen.
