Today I had to send a copy of Windows 2003 up to our co-lo facility, and realized that the copy I sent — I didnt know the CD Key for. Around here I install our MSDN copy since its on developement machines, but for our production machines it needs the Volume License version — legal crap stuffs. Regardless, our CD Key for VL was lost — at least lost to me (maybe my predisesor had it — but I certainly dont). This worried me a bit — but I found some software that was very handy in fixing my problem — legally. Its called Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder and what it does is go through your registry and pull out basically all of the Microsoft CD Keys you have. I connected to our production enviroment, used this bit of software — and I had my cd key.
Awesome Awesome.
