So today I saw an article today on CNN that made me laugh, it was titled World Cup clogs a goooooaaaal. Honestly I stopped reading as soon as I got to the part of the article that read “Soccer is dubbed the world’s sport and its reach across the World Wide Web is just as great.”. Um, if it has such a great reach across the WWW — how come I had to watch the games in 100kbs quality on ESS.Tv (Not that I don’t like ESS, far from it). So far we haven’t found any streams of the world cup games ANYWHERE. Also, American TV is BAIRLY covering the games — at least so far as I can tell. I’m always at work when the games are on so I have to watch them streaming.
To be fair though, CNN has it right in the fact that the World Cup is very popular online. Probably has something to do with the fact that the games are called the WORLD Cup. With teams from every country I’d suspect that at least a few people from eveyr country would be excited.
On a side note, I was pleased that Australia made it as far as round 16. Sadly none of the teams I was following made it to even the quarter finals. I put my money on Brazil for the office pool and I’ve lost there. Oh well, we’ll see how it goes.
