CDC offers tips on Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse

Posted on 2011-05-20 By John No Comments on CDC offers tips on Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse

If you're ready for a zombie apocalypse, then you're ready for any emergency. emergency.cdc.govRecently, the CDC tweeted about the Zombie Apocalypse. I found this intriguing for a number of reasons (not the least of which was that the CDC had a twitter feed).

Their post about the Zombie Apocalypse was fairly amusing, and what they were really using it as a vehicle for was to raise disaster preparedness awareness, because (as the image attests) if you are prepared for a Zombie Apocalypse, you are prepared for just about anything.

The one very noticeable thing they left out of their Zombie kit was a firearm/weapon. If you have to fight hordes of the undead, you really do need a weapon (as we have

discussed previously), though in most other disasters that may not be critical and in some cases is quite detrimental. After all, if you are in the National Guard and tasked with picking up survivors of a disaster, are you going to let the crazy guy with the gun in your vehicle? Not unless he hands it over or agrees to leave it behind.

With the Rapture supposedly happening tomorrow at 6 PM, followed by the end of the world as we know it October 21 (at least according to Harold Camping), now is a great time to check/update your own Disaster kit. Don’t have one? Don’t know where to start? Relax, we’ve got you covered: here and here (for Zombie-related disasters).

Of course, you could always just look at what the CDC has to say on the matter.

Oh and if you like the image above, head over to the CDC’s site, they have plenty more.
