So I took advantage of a sale I saw on Buy.com for some new SanDisk Cruzer Titanium 4.0GB drives. I’ve already got a 1GB, and a 2GB drive, and I really like them. I figured since the deal was so good, I’d order two. For those thats don’t know, there is a lot more to a USB thumb drive than just the size. The other key piece of information is the read and write speeds. The Cruzer Titaniums are fast (Which is why I buy them, not because they are metal shelled). Some drives don’t publish the speed info, and I find it’s generally because those drives are damn slow. If you aren’t in a hurry, then great. Me on the other hand? If I’m going to be loading up 4GB worth of files — I don’t want to be there all FREAKING WEEK.
The one main problem with these drives it that they come with this crap software called “U3” installed by Default. It is stupid, useless, and annoying. Not only that, it’s a pain in the ass to remove — if you don’t know how. So today kids, I’m going to share how to get rid of it. All you need to do is download one piece of software. The regular uninstaller or the SanDisk uninstaller, depending, of course, on who made your drive. Download, execute, rejoice. Oh, and do pay attention to the “this will reformat your drive” warnings. Unless of course you are smart and uninstall this U3 crap the second the drive comes out of the shrink wrapping — like myself.
