Netflix is in a Race to Content Rock-Bottom
April 30, 2022
Yesterday it was announced that Space Force, on Netflix, had been canceled after two seasons. It was a good show with an all-comedy-star cast, so of course Netflix would kill it off. Then this morning I saw the news that Legends of Tomorrow, on CW, was also canceled - but after 7 seasons. All the news of canceled shows made me reflect a bit on the direction of TV programming.
A few days with the Apple TV (2015)
November 6, 2015
Last week saw the release of the 4th Generation Apple TV. Being the first Apple TV featuring the new tvOS, it was the first device in the model’s 8 year history to have user-installable apps. Just like on most modern platforms, having the ability to install your own applications is incredibly useful and powerful. There are some interesting applications which I think will show up down the line relating to business use, but we’ll talk about that later. For now, how does it work in real life? For real people? I’ve spent a few days of quality time testing out my Apple TV and I can safely say I need a new couch.
Review: High School of the Dead
December 27, 2011
(Note: the manga uses “highschool” as one word, though the correct use is 2 words: high school, which is what the English version of the TV show uses.) Awhile back, Jon did a preliminary (zombie) review on High School of the Dead, then 2 months later, he finished watching the series (and read a bit more of the manga) and did a wrap-up review. Given Jon’s interest, when I noticed that netflix had the show available on Instant Watch, I figured I would take a look.
Review: Bitch Slap (Movie)
July 5, 2010
Maybe you’re sitting around this 4th of July holiday and looking for something to entertain yourself, maybe you’re thinking about getting a movie. Whatever the reason, let me pass one word of advice down: Do not watch “Bitch Slap". I really don’t know how to convey this movie in a short synopsis, but I think one line of the movie really sums of the “creativity” of writing, how stupid it is and how much of a waste of time it is: _Oh, my God. You’re a wicked-cool covert operative masquerading as a sex-toy tycoon?_ Yes. Just brilliant… but I will give you more reasons not to watch this movie. As I hope you never see it, I’m going to explain how the movie ends (several times) and generally give away plot points. So without further adieu… Warning: Spoilers and strong language (as the title of the “film” portends)
D.O.A – What a Great Movie
September 9, 2007
So I finally got around to returning the Netflix DVD’s that I’ve had out for AGES… What showed up recently was none other than D.O.A. Dead or Alive, The Movie. Now I’ve never been a big fan of the DOA series simply because I don’t like fighters. Because of this, I’m not a stickler for the DOA canon, nor do I even know it. Regardless, this movie was hilarious. If you can enjoy the movie for what it is, a cheap fighter movie filled with a bunch of hot chicks — then its a great movie.
